Most sidetracks are planned to re-target the same reservoir higher on the structure or to place the new lateral into a new pay zone. In either case, the build-section is typically isolated via a cemented liner set just above or just into the new target zone based on well control requirements. In some cases, operators will drill the new hole section to TD, run the completion and then perform an “Off-bottom” cement job to isolate the build section from the targeted reservoir section. This can be an expensive and risky operation
Tendeka offers an option to save rig time, costs, and reduce overall completion risks.
This single trip completion concept saves a completion liner and cement job reducing both rig time and overall completion costs while adding real time DTS monitoring of ICD inflow and swellable packer / zonal isolation integrity.
The well is sidetracked to TD. The lower ICD completion is deployed and dropped off. The upper completion is deployed and stung into the lower completion. Openhole isolation packers and production packers are then set. The FloSeal mechanical packer and water swellable packers are used to gain full isolation of the build section.
