Innovation Award for wireless well completion technology

September 10, 2018

We were honoured to receive the Innovation Award for our PulseEight technology at the Gold Awards on Friday 7th September.

The awards were launched in 2015 by the Press & Journal to recognise remarkable contributions to the UK offshore oil & gas industry. We were shortlisted alongside Air Control Entech, Cognitive Geology and Rig Deluge.

Commenting on the win, Paul Lynch, Advanced Completions Director, said: “I’m delighted!  We want to deliver new, game-changing technology but we can’t do that without the input, efforts and hard work of the fantastic team we have here.

“The PulseEight technology has allowed us to advance the communications technology in the downhole environment to match what happens at surface.  That’s allowed real-time decisions downhole but also improve productivity for wells.  We’re starting to see edge-analytics come into play to make decisions downhole to optimise in a real-time manner.  For me, it’s fantastic to be speaking about this because 5-10 years ago, these things were nothing more than a pipe-dream.”

PulseEight uses unique pressure pulse telemetry to channel wireless communication between a well’s downhole monitoring and control system and the wellhead.
